Suboxone - Medically Assisted Therapy

Yes, we have a Suboxone program and do accept pregnant patients. We follow state requirements. We believe in a cognitive behavioral model, not a medically inherited one. you were not born and addict and you were not born this way. You can make a decision to work a program and get clean. You are not an unfortunate circumstance, you are someone who made bad decisions and can start making good ones now. If you believe none of this is your fault and you are a victim of circumstances then this is not the place for you. There are dozens of pill-mills in the area that will write for whatever you want and not require counseling. You can go to one of these places until they get shut-down but then you will be right back where you started. 

No, we will not write for a benzodiazepine like Xanax or Klonopin and no will not write for Suboxone if you are getting it from somewhere else. The medical literature shows how people taking both of those medications actually do worse than Suboxone alone. 

No, you cannot smoke marijuana and no you cannot have a Medical Marijuana Card at the same time - addiction is not a state medical marijuana qualifying condition and much like with the Xanax, you will not progress with therapy and cognitive behavioral modification if you are taking those meds and/or cannabis. Plus, be honest with yourself, if the pot was really helping then why are you still needing Suboxone?

Counseling:

We have a Chemical Dependency Counselor on staff, and she is doing mostly telemedicine, FaceTime and others. We have the option of phone only, but most third-party insurances will not cover phone only. If you absolutely want a male counselor, we have an alternative option, but it is also telemedicine. You have the option to use any counselor you like as long as it is a qualified professional – not just someone from your church or a neighbor unless they are also a qualified counselor  We will need some sort of report from them that you are being seen and undergoing counseling.

AA/NA/SMartRecovry:

Other options include 12-step programs and the AA alternative known as Smart Recovery. We often use Smart Recovery forms in the program. AA/NA is not for everyone. Most of the AA meetings are full of people will all kinds of addictions - cocaine, heroin, meth, not just alcohol. You can find AA/NA meetings online or load the "Meeting Guide" APP on your smartphone if you do not have it already.
